It’s Time to Stop Clairton Coke Work’s Illegal Pollution

For weeks, US Steel’s Clairton Coke Works (one of the region’s largest polluters) quietly belched out noxious emissions of sulfur dioxide. The dangerous and illegal pollution--sometimes as high as double the legal limit--triggered asthma and sent people to the hospital. Yet, the plant is still running without critical technology to filter out sulfur dioxide emissions, while residents are being told to stay inside.

It’s time to crack down on the illegal polluters like the Clairton Coke Works who put our health at risk. Because polluter profit should never come before our health.
