Clean Up Allegheny County's Toxic Ten

The ten worst industrial air polluters in Allegheny County emit more than 1 million pounds of toxic pollutants linked to birth defects, cancer, neurological disorders, cardiovascular disease and respiratory problems.

These Toxic Ten are a major health threat to county residents who deserve the right to breathe clean, healthy air. It’s time for the Allegheny County Health Department to clean up these facilities.

Dear Allegheny County Health Department,

Just 10 industrial polluters in Allegheny County emit more than 1 million pounds of toxic pollutants linked to cancer, birth defects, reproductive problems, heart disease and other ailments. As the agency responsible for protecting the health of Allegheny County residents and regulating these industrial polluters, we need you to take bold action to clean up our air and make it safer for all of us to breathe.

We urge you to revise existing permits to ensure residents are not exposed to dangerous levels of toxic air pollution and to significantly increase the consequences for violating clean air permits.

These steps are necessary to protect Allegheny County's 1.2 million residents from the devastating impacts of air pollution from industrial facilities.
